How would you feel when you hear people say, “budak sekolah sukan tidak pandai.” Is this statement true? Are you part of the solution? Or are you part of the problem? What is your attitude in class when the teacher is teaching? Are you showing the level of commitment in the classroom as someone who wants to be clever, or stupid?
Being good in sports and good in studies both take a lot of training and practice. Just like in sports, if you do not train in your studies, your performance will drop. As a state athlete, you need to be able to do both because you are the face of Sarawak wherever you go. People will look at you and judge everyone in Sarawak, so make us proud. Do your best. You are our hope and future. It does not matter what your level is now. What matters is where you are going. You must be willing to put in the effort and good attitude.
Therefore, I am proud to run the TJ Writes monthly bulletin again this year. This is the best place for you to showcase your English writing skills, as well as provide model essays for your schoolmates to learn from. If you would like to write an essay for TJ Writes, you can give them directly to me and I will work with you to make your essay better and ready for publishing. You can write about any topic. For example, school, friendship, adventure, technology, or romance.
This year, I am especially looking for poems and stories about Sarawak cultures. We need to be proud of the unique culture that we have in Sarawak and promote it to the world. By the end of 2020, I hope to have enough essays to produce a book which will be sold to all the schools in Kuching, and all the other sports schools in Malaysia.
Dear students, join me in proving that sports school students can write in English and much more. Let’s show the whole of Malaysia that sports school students are very capable and bright. This is what happens when athletes write.
